MARRIAGES.
PHILLIPS—HORDERN —April 17, 1912, at St Augustine's Church, Petersham, by the Rev W. A. Fletcher, Russell Wyatt, third son of J. J. Phillips, to Judith Lily, fourth daughter of Edward Hordern, of Stanmore.[3]
Russell Wyatt Phillips enlisted on 2 September 1914 to serve with the first Australian Imperial Force during World War I. He served with the 1st Field Ambulance, A Squadron and embarked from Sydney, New South Wales, on board Transport A14 "Euripides" on 20 October 1914. Russell was a stretcher bearer with 1st Australian Field Ambulance (A.F.A.). He joined the M.E.F. (Mediterranean Expeditionary Force) at Gallipoli on 5 April 1915. During service, he was admitted twice to Mena Hospital, Egypt and was eventually invalided back to Australia and medically discharged from the A.I.F. on 30 September 1915. [4] [5] [6]

PHILLIPS v PHILLIPS.
Alleging desertion as a ground, Russell Wyatt Phillips sued for a divorce from Judith Lilly Phillips (formerly Hordern). The parties were married according to Church of England rites at Petersham, in April, 1912. Mr. A. J. Grant appeared for the petitioner, who was granted a decree nisi returnable in six months.[7]
