My whole family is a mystery to me. I have never had any answers to any questions from anyone in my family. Being of both my paternal and maternal lines.
I am new at this so bare with me, and I apologize in advance for mistakes I will make. My maternal line of Phillips comes from Georgia mostly..Dekalb County, Dalton, GA. North Carolina was where the early pioneers first settled. Alabama....Another puzzle of pieces I wish I didn't stumble across. My 3rd great grandmother (Slate) from my mothers maternal line, was 3/4 of Native American blood. (Will be adding sources soon. Located 2 family bibles in my mother's and grandmother's possession!) Somehow she is found marrying a decesdant (possibly 2) of the group that survived the first winter in this homeland. First to step foot and SURVIVE through a rough, unimaginable winter. Amazing people.
Paternal Phillips is a whole headache, every day, all day, all night to try and piece together. There is so much history in these ancestors of mine, it's really something I am proud of being. They are out of Scott County, Tennessee. My dad was born on the top of a mountain, so he says. Also, from Kentucky, Texas, Florida, Missouri, Indiana, Ohio, Colorado...then we have Ireland, Scotland, NSW and I'm sure many more to come. (sources will be here soon as well)
American Revolutionary War soldiers are ALL of my great grandfathers both maternal and paternal lines. The sons following their father's before them..War of 1812, Confederate boys in the south (a few Union soldiers...uncles and cousins) World War l and ll. All fought for us here today. For what they believed in and what they felt was right. For their families before and after them. It is a blessing finding knowledge on my family.. Still looking for my grandfather though. It will come one day, his name, maybe a picture. Wishful thinking.
I am the granddaughter of Tootsie (Verna Mae) from Scott County, Tennessee. And of Linda Nicholson from Stone Mountain, Georgia. I am 30 years old and feel like there is no way I will live long enough to figure all this mess out lol.
I am willing to hear anything and everything good, bad, sad , happy, doesn't matter the ethnicity they/we are. If you're family and you are reading this, please let me know. I want to so desperately get this family (fathers side) back together once more while the brothers and sisters are still living. Make Tootsie proud to see that from up in heaven.
