Caldwell was born in 1907 according to his WWll enlistment, and 1886 according to his daughter's SSI, Verna Mae. Born in Tennessee to Harvey Phillips and Bertha Belle Terry. He was the the second son with an older brother born in 1905. I have looked into his military file as much as I was able to see online, and it just raised more questions in the history of my family. I am waiting on his Military personal file, currently being processed by AAD. Also waiting on a Supreme Court case file to be mailed to me as well that he was involved in. Caldwell was married 3 or 4 times. Im unsure of exactly how many children he may have had. I know two for sure, Verna Mae and Juanita. He is found in quite a bit of records throughout his early life, but then he just falls off the radar. My father told me that he was "shell shocked" after the war and was admitted into a mental asylum. Unsure of how long and what the years were. He also said that Verna Mae had to go and pick him up. I asked why Rosie didn't, but silence was the answer to that question. Carrie, Rosie, Bonnie and possibly a Pearl were the wives that I know of. Not a very pleasant man according to my dad, which intrigues me more for some strange reason. One other thing my dad said was that when Caldwell was released from the hospital he had a power of attorney over him and his pension. Man by the name of .... I'm not sure if he is still living, so I won't add that just yet.

This obituary incorrectly lists John Riley Phillips and Leona Phillips as the parents of George Caldwell Phillips. According to George Caldwell Phillips' delayed birth certificate, approved by the Tennessee State Registrar on 22 Jan 1951, George's parents are Harvy Phillips and Bell Terry. That birth certificate also says George was born 18 Jun 1907 in Robbins, Scott County, Tennessee.

It looks like you've combined two different men in this profile:
For example, unless he was a bigamist, he's married to two different women at that same time.
And each has a different set of parents.
Would you like help pulling the two apart?
