Edward John was born about 1820 at Margate, Kent, England[1][2] and baptised 18th March 1821 at St. John the Baptist, Margate, Kent, England, the son of Richard Philpott (Mariner, deceased) and Sarah Phillpott of Margate[3].

Edward married Sophia Fasham on the 17th May 1848 at St. John the Baptist, Margate, Kent, England. Edward Phillpott, bachelor, painter, of Margate, son of Richard Phillpott (Mariner) & Sophia Fasham, spinster of Margate, daughter of Stephen Fasham (labourer). Witnessed by R{ichar}d Phillpott & Geo{rge} Dixon[4].

Edward John died in 1864 in Kent, England[5].
