Otto Eduard Wilhelm [William] Meseberg (1853-1936) married Wilhelmina [Minnie] Frankenstein (1852-1903) in 1874. When they married Wilhelmina already had a son (who was nearly 2 years old) with a man having the surname of Gale -- and that's all anyone ever knew about him). After William & Minnie married they named this boy, Herman Carl Meseberg (1872-1945), later became known as Herman C. Meseberg, Sr.. It's interesting to note that H. C. Meseberg. Sr.'s 2nd child, Laurena Meseberg Schmeling, gave her son Willard, the middle name of Gale. Thus, Willard Gale Schmeling. Finally, it's sad to say, but all the legit siblings of Wm. & Minnie had little or nothing to do with Herman Meseberg, Sr. & his offspring. They even moved to another township & joined a different Lutheran church.
