A guess would be that Nancy died say ca 1828, and that the younger children are Elizabeth's.

Biography
Note: This John Philpott is sometimes confused with John Wrenn Philpott, who also lived in Henry County, Virginia. There is evidence that this John Philpott traveled to Tennessee at about the same time as his parents and at least nine of his siblings, while John Wrenn Philpott remained in Virginia. John Wrenn's parents are unknown but he was likely a first or second cousin to this John Philpott.
John Philpott was born about 1801 at Henry County, Virginia (this estimate is based on U.S. Census records). He was a son of Samuel Philpott and Mary Anne "Polly" Hannah.
On 6 January 1819, at Henry County, a marriage bond was recorded for John Philpott and Nancy Phyfer. Joseph Phifer gave his consent.[1]
On the 1820 U.S. Census, John Philpott appeared as Head of Household at Henry County, Virginia.[2] His household included:
1 male age 16-25
1 female age 16-25
1 female under age 10
On 24 July 1826, John Philpot was named as a legatee in the distribution of the estate of his father, at Roane County, Tennessee (Roane County Estate Book B, 1829-1837, page 34).[3]
On the 1830 U.S. Census, John Philpott appeared as Head of Household at Monroe County, Tennessee.[4] His household included:
1 male age 20-29
1 male age 5-9
1 male under age 5
1 female age 20-29
1 female age 10-14
1 female under age 5
On the 1840 U.S. Census, John Filpot appeared as Head of Household at Roane County, Tennessee.[5] His household included:
1 male age 30-39
1 male age 15-19
1 male age 10-14
1 female age 30-39
1 female age 20-29
1 female age 10-14
1 female age 5-9
1 female under age 5
One person in the household was employed in agriculture, and two persons in the household over age 20 could not read or write.
John Filpot appeared as Head of Household on the 1850 U.S. Census at Knox County, Tennessee. He was listed as 50-year old laborer, born in Virginia. He was living with his wife and one child. Henry Filpot, age 28, lived with his family next door.[6]
John Filpot appeared as Head of Household on the 1860 U.S. Census at Madisonville, Monroe County, Tennessee. He was listed as a 60-year old laborer, born in North Carolina (this was an error). His personal property was valued at $100. He was living with his wife.[7]
John Philpott died after 1860. The place of his burial is unknown.
