Biography

1866 Origins

Rosanna Philpotts, as it is written on her birth record ^[1] was born to parents Henry Philpotts Philpott-444 and Rosanna Phillpots born Mason Mason-7059 on 16th of December 1866 in Powick, Worcestershire, England. The registration district was Upton Upon Seven in the sub district of Hanley Castle. Her father Henry was a farm labourer at the time, he is uneducated at the time and signs his name with the mark of an X. Rosanna, is soon referred to as Charlotte, which is her grandmother name and possibly was her middle name, although not documented any where that I have seen. On all other documents she is always referred to as Charlotte Rosanna.

Powick is a village in Worcestershire, England, located two miles south of the city of Worcester and four miles north of Great Malvern, close to the River Teme. It is a civil parish of the Malvern Hills District, and it includes the village of Callow End and the hamlets of Bastonford, Clevelode, Collett's Green, and Dublin's Green. ^[2]

1871, 1881 Growing up

In 1871 Charlotte is living with her parents in Broadfields, Powick, Upton Upon Severn, Worcestershire, England ^[3] She is also living with her sisters Elizabeth and Mary Ann. Also their is a visitor Jane Leusia Mason (her mother maiden name) living with the family. Jane is listed as being 7, born 1864, Worcestershire. Further research needed for Jane.

In 1881, Charlotte is living with her grandmother Charlotte, although on this record she is referred as Rosana. ^[4]. They are living at Almhouse, Newland, Upton Upon Severn. Her grandmother is the head of the house and a widow at 73 and a pensioner.

1883 Marriage

Charlotte marries James Jauncey on the 21st of August 1883 in the parish of Leigh, Worcestershire. ^[5] James notably signs his name with an "x" and Charlotte signs her as Sharlot Roshannah Philpotts Her sister Elizabeth Philpott and John Buston are witnesses. George Jauncey and Henry Philpott are noted as their fathers and both of them are labourers.

Charlotte and James have 11 children, Gladys, Ethel, John, James Henry (DA) , Anne, Ellen, George, Lucy, William, Florence and Joseph.^[6]

1891, 1901, 1911 Married Life

In 1901 they are in Hill Mill, Leigh, Worcestershire, with George, Florrie, James, Nellie, Gladys and John. George is already a Waggoners farm boy.^[8]

In 1911 they are still in Leigh and have Ellen, James, John, Josey, Lucy and William living with them. ^[9]

Her husband James dies in 1927.^[10]

1939 Death

On the 18th of March 1939 at the age of 73 Charlotte Rosanna Jauncey passes away in Bromsgrove, Worcester. . She passes due to a heart attack, diabetes and old age. ^[11]
