Biography

Rebecca (Phippen) Vickery immigrated to New England as a child during the Puritan Great Migration (1621-1640).

Rebecca Phippen was born about 1622 in England the daughter of David Phippen (b. c 1585) and Sarah _______. David's wife's maiden name is currently unknown according to Anderson.[1] (Possibly Sarah Pinckney (b. 6 Nov 1574, d. 25 Aug 1659)) Rebecca came with her parents to New England in 1634.[2][3][4]

She married George Vickery about 1647.[1][3][5][4] George (8 Oct 1620, d. 1679) was the son of John Vickery and Agnes Orchard. [citation needed]

  • 1650: August 31: Her father Phippen's undated will was proved, leaving a bequest of one cow to son George Rickard/Vickars. [1][3][6]
  • 1653: December 3: Her mother, widow Sarah Phippen sold a house and land parcel to Robert Saunderson, with the consent of George Vicars and his wife Rebecca, also having rights to the property.[1]
  • 1659: Her mother Sarah Phippen Hull left moveables to her daughters, including daughter Rebecca Vickers.[1]
  • 1673/4: April 8: George and wife consent of wife Rebecca, sold all his rights in the grant at Saconett Neck or other suitable place to Joseph Church.[7]
  • 1679: April 22: George and wife Rebecca deeded by gift, a homelot in Hull to son Isaac.[3]

Her husband George died intestate on July 12, 1679. On July 29, widow Rebecca and son Jonathan were granted administration of his estate.[3][8]

Rebecca Phippen died circa 1687 (or Nov 1689) at of Hingham(?).

  2. George born about 1651; married Lucy Hodson[3]; died August 28, 1721.[4]
  3. Isaac born about 1654; married first widow Elizabeth (Cromwell) Price; married second Lydia Jones[3]; died on April 24, 1726.[4]
  4. Israel born about 1660; married Judith Hersey[3]; died April 18, 1710 aged about 50.[4]
  5. ? John born about 1662; married Sarah Croakham. [3]
  6. Benjamin born about 1664; married first Dorcus Paine; second Mary Coom[3]; died January 0, 1718.[4]
  7. Joseph born about 1666; married Abigail (___)[3]; died May 3, 1739, aged 73.[4]
