Biography
Frances Caroline Phipps was born on 10th July 1847 at Coventry, Warwickshire, England. George Phipps and Frances Williams.[1]
She married Fortunato Amadio in 1866 in Birmingham, Warwickshire. [2]
They migrated to New Zealand with their three eldest children, arriving on 3rd January 1879 aboard the Fernglen.[3] Another four children would be born, "Kiwis":
- Henry Antonio (1868-1943)
- Lucy Ann (1870-1963) married Robert Coltman
- Albert Fortunato (1877-1953)
- Frances Maud (1879-1974) married William Bowick
- Samuel Clement (1881-1963)
- Eleanor Margueretta (1883-1974) Edward Stent
- Florence May (1885-1960) married Frank Howie
All the children, other than Henry Antonio, married and settled in New Zealand. Henry married and migrated to Victoria, Australia. He became the progenitor of the renouned Amadio family orchestral musicians.
Having lived in widowhood for 24 years, Frances passed away on 22nd March 1910 at Feilding, Wellington, New Zealand, surrounded by six of her seven children and fourteen grandchildren.[4]
Frances was born in 1847. She passed away in 1910.
Frances was the daughter of George and Frances Phipps from Coventry, West Midland, Burmingham.
She married Fortunato Antonio Amadio in St Martin's Church, Warwickshire in 1866 when she was 19 and he was 18.
They had 4 children in England and emigrated some time after 1876. They had other children in New Zealand.
He died aged 39 in Wellington, 24 years before her. She died aged 62 in Feilding
