Nominee: Gravestone maker

Hanigan-6-2.jpg

Nominated by Chris: This seems to be a photo of the owners of a gravestone maker whose store is across the street from a cemetery. At least, it looks to me like a cemetery in the reflection on the window. The other thing in the reflection, which makes this even cooler: you can see the photographer! And as a dog lover, the dog is a plus for me. :-) Oh, it's also nice that the profile has more info and photos.

Seconded by Keith Baker

Nominee: "Doing exactly what she wanted to": shoot at things

White-12000-1.jpg

Nominated by Chris: I like that the women are out shooting with the men. How common was this? Were they duck hunting or target shooting or what? I also love that the title given by the WikiTreer is "Babe Engle, doing exactly what she wanted to".

Seconded by Gil Reich.

Nominee: Cutting sod?

Allen-9252.jpg

Nominated by Chris: Is this couple cutting sod, maybe to build a house? Or just to burn? What is this? I really want to know.

Seconded by Maggie.

Nominee: Posed ladies, with doll

Aiken-199.jpg

Nominated by Chris: A simple posed shot, but I love seeing the children's outfits and especially the doll in the girl's arms.

Seconded by Debby Black. Love the period clothing and shoes. Old photos of children are hard for me to resist.

Nominee: Commonwealth soldiers in Tel Aviv during WWII

Armstrong-1529-2.jpg

Nominated by Chris: British Commonwealth soldiers on a street in Tel Aviv before it was Israel. This is the kind of photo that makes me want to investigate the history and understand it better. Whitten-1 13:20, 29 March 2013 (EDT)

Seconded by Maggie and Allen.
