John Pickard was born before 1600 in Rowley, Yorkshire, England. He was the son of unknown father and unknown mother. He was married to Ann (Unknown) Lume — married about 1616 (to before 1629) in Yorkshire, England [uncertain]. He was the father of John Pickard and Dorcas Pickard.

He died before 1629 in Yorkshire l'ouest, England, his widow Ann remarrying to Matthew Lume and subsequently emigrating to the New World with his son, John. The will of Ann Lume, in Rowley, Essex, Massachusetts names her daughters by Matthew Lume, Susanna and Judith, with a note that the younger John Pickard renounces any interest in Ann's estate.
