John Pickard was born on 1 Mar 1653, in Rowley, Essex County, Massachusetts Bay Colony. He was the son of John Pickard and Jane Crosby.[1]
John married Sarah Smith, daughter of John Smith, in Rowley on 11 Feb 1679.[2] Sarah died on 28 Sep 1689, in Rowley.[3]
John remarried on 5 Mar 1690/1, in Rowley. His second wife was Johanah Bishop,[4] born Johanna Tuttle.[5]
When John Pickard died intestate on 1 Nov 1697, in Rowley,[6] his widow, Johanna, was named the administrator of his estate,[7] valued at L584 in real estate and L143 s6 d2 in personal property according to the inventory accepted into probate on 28 Mar 1699.[8]
Johanna provided her accounting of expenses as administrator on 29 Mar 1700.[9] Also on 29 Mar 1700, Johanna signed three guardianship bonds for John Pickard's minor children, with Samuel Pickard of Rowley and John Tuttle of Ipswich as her sureties: John Pickard, age 15, and Sarah Pickard, age 8,[10] David Pickard, age 6, and Jane Pickard, age 2,[11] and Jonathan Pickard, age 13, and Frances Pickard, age 10.[12]
