Biography

Christopher was aged ~13 years in 1498. [1], son of Sir James Pykerynge Knt and Ann d. & heyr of Sir Crystofer Moresby.

He married Jane Lewknor, daughter of Sir Roger Lewknor and Eleanor Tuchet.
One child, Ann Pickering was born circa 1514.

He passed away in 1516 [location uncertain] but a monument was erected in the St Andrew's Church, Parish of Penrith, Cumberland, upon the wall of the old church, on the right hand coming in at the south door:
Orate pro anima Chriftepheri Pykryng militis; qui obiit 7th die menfis Sept. Anno Dom. Milles. D. XII.[2]
In the vestry are stone monuments with shields of arms to Richard-Coldall esq. of Plumpton, ob. 27 Dec. 1462; Sir Christopher Moresby, kt. ob. 26 July, 1499; Sir Christopher Moresby kt. and Elizabeth, his wife, and to Sir Christopher Pykryng kt. ob. 7 Sept. 1512[3]. Local historians confirm that an error was made by by Nicolson & Burn and that the correct date should be 1516.[4]
