Biography

This profile is part of the Pickett Name Study.

James Oregon Pickett was born on March 3, 1846 in Lincoln, Tennessee, United States, son of Mark H Pickett (~1814–>1880) and Catherine Shelton (~1815–~1865).[1]

In 1850, James (4) was living in Subdivision 2, Lincoln with his parents, Mark H (35) and Catherine (40); and George Pickett (8), Mary F Pickett (7), Mary Jones (30), and Margaret Jones (8). [2]

In 1860, James (14) was living in District 25, Lincoln with his parents, Mark H Pickette (45) and Catherine Pickette (46); and George Pickette (17), and Mary Pickette (14). [3]

In 1870, James (24)'s occupation was 'farm laborer'. He was living in District 25, Lincoln with M H Pickett (55), George Pickett (28), N J Pickett (24), M J Pickett (26), and Shelton M E Pickett (16). [4]

James (27) married Josephine Cambron (14) (born on January 9, 1859 in Alabama; daughter of William Jackson Cambron) on November 12, 1873.[5] Their children were:

In 1920, James (74) was living in Civil District 25, Lincoln with his wife, Joseephene (61); their son, James O (19); and Maloy Speck (9, grandson). [9]

James died on November 29, 1924 in Huntland, Franklin, Tennessee, aged 78. He was buried in Shady Grove Cemetery, Shady Grove, Lincoln County, Tennessee.[1] [10]
