The potential DNA match is Joanne Kirsten (Phillips) Cohen https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Phillips-47342
The DNA website Gedmatch has shown a DNA match between Michael Pickup and other family, who are not on wikitree. In line with the guidance on https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:DNA_Confirmation this detail is kept confidential. Paternal relationship is confirmed by a GEDmatch test match between Michael Pickup and his third cousin once removed. Gedmatch test JP3868592. Their most recent common ancestors are Clark Rook (abt.1802-1871) and Mary Ann (Phipps) Rook (abt.1805-1846)
Largest segment = 41.8 cM
Total Half-Match segments (HIR) 82.5cM (2.301 Pct)
Estimated number of generations to MRCA = 3.7
4 shared segments found for this comparison.
This therefore suggests that
1. Michael Pickup is the son of William Pickup
2. William Pickup is the son of Edward James Pickup (1858-1939)
3. Edward James Pickup (1858-1939) is the son of Emma (Rook) Pickup (1827-1873)

Mary Ann (Phipps) Rook (abt.1805-1846).
This suggests that Clark Rook (abt.1802-1871) is the second great grandfather of Michael and
Mary Ann (Phipps) Rook (abt.1805-1846) is the second great grandmother of Michael.
This also suggests that
1. [Private] is the son of Thomas Charles Thornton (1925-1998)
2. Thomas Charles Thornton (1925-1998) is the son of Margaret Eleanor Hollett (abt.1895-1980)
3. Margaret Eleanor Hollett (abt.1895-1980) is the daughter of George Charles Hollett (1868-)
4. George Charles Hollett (1868-) is the son of Margaret (Rook) Hollett (1830-1877)
5. Margaret (Rook) Hollett (1830-1877) is the daughter of Mary Ann (Phipps) Rook (abt.1805-1846)
This suggests that Clark Rook (abt.1802-1871) is the second great grandfather of [Private] and Mary Ann (Phipps) Rook (abt.1805-1846) is the third great grandmother of [Private].
However, since this is using a DNA match between Michael Pickup and his third cousin once removed, it is not possible to state that these relationships are confirmed without triangulation.
The DNA website Gedmatch has shown a DNA match between Michael Pickup and other family, who are not on wikitree. In line with the guidance on https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:DNA_Confirmation this detail is kept confidential.
Paternal relationship is suggested by a GEDmatch test match between Michael Pickup and his second cousin three times removed. Gedmatch test JP3868592. Their most recent common ancestors are Joseph Thomas Pickup (1825-1863) and his wife Emma (Rook) Pickup (1827-1873). Largest segment = 26.1 cM Total Half-Match segments (HIR) 26.1cM (0.727 Pct) Estimated number of generations to MRCA = 4.6. 1 shared segments found for this comparison.
This therefore suggests that Michael Pickup is the son of William Pickup who is the son of Edward James Pickup (1858-1939) who is the son of Joseph Thomas Pickup (1825-1863) and Emma (Rook) Pickup (1827-1873).
It also suggests that George Thomas Cutbill (1902-1982) is the son of Emma Agnes (Mongour) Cutbill (1880-1910) the daughter of Margaret (Pickup) Monger (1853 - ~1903) and Anthony Monger (1850 - 1899).
However, since this is using a DNA match between Michael Pickup and his second cousin three times removed, it is not possible to state that these relationships are proved without triangulation.

Here's just a reminder/ prompt when you are data doctoring, to check that there is no duplicate =Biography= or =Sources= headings when you save, as I noticed there are a few you marked as resolved when there are still duplicate headings or other such similar issues in the profile. Thanks!

It would help me if you could remember any of the profiles where this occurred. I was working on Somerset suggestions mainly.

It's that time of the year again: check-in time! As England Project Leaders, we like to check in with you every six months or so to see how things are progressing. Back in May, we didn't ask for a response due to the rapid emergence of Covid-19 because we understood that people's lives were changing rapidly. While we are still living in a Covid world, we do need to hear back from you this time around
First of all, how are you doing? What are you currently working on? Are you happy with the team(s) you're in, or would you like to change things up?
Secondly, we're looking for some feedback on the Google Group and our Discord server. Do you use either or both of these? If you don't use either, why not? Do you have any suggestions on how we can improve participation and collaboration, either generally or for you personally?
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Lizzie, Amy, Joan

Yes am using Concord, and often picking up very good tips from more experienced Wikitreers.
However, since downloading Concord an unimportant but irritating message pops up every time I switch on my laptop. Its a "Java Script Error occurring.in the main Process". Clicking OK gets rid of the message and nothing seems to be wrong, but as I said, it is irritating. Apparently, its a common error caused by Discord and many solutions are offered but none work. Unless you heard this from other members, please don't spend any time on it.
Good to hear from you. Best wishes Mike
Thank you for your participation in October 2020’s Source-a-thon. Your contributions helped us to clear over 57,000 profiles that needed sourcing. This makes our Shared Tree all that much better.
Keep up the great work!

Hi Mike
We all did a great job this weekend, thank you for participating. A job well done the grand total for the event was 57,577 profiles sourced. The Mighty Oaks contributed 8,877 of those. Maddy lead all the way and ended with a fab score of 1,130. Making her no 6 on the individual scoreboard
See: https://wikitree.sdms.si/Challenges/SourceaThon/TeamAndUser.htmClick on tracking to open up your contribution list so you can review your work and possibly some tidying up.
Thanks again for this weekend, you rock

WikiTree’s fifth annual Source-a-Thon will run from 2 to 5 October. It’s a fun way for us to team together to clean up some of WikiTree’s unsourced profiles. There’s also a variety of door prizes donated from around the genealogy community.
I’ve joined the England Project’s Mighty Oaks team and will be sourcing profiles for Somerset.
If you’d like to join the fun, you can register for the Source-a-Thon here: https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/1097927/have-you-registered-for-the-2020-source-a-thon-yet

Your England Leaders are completing the six monthly check in with all team members. Thank you for all your work on English Profiles and in particular your work in Surrey and Somerset Teams.
These are unprecedented and difficult times, and we understand as Project Leaders that your situation may have changed somewhat in the last few months. What we are all able to/ wish to contribute on Wikitree has changed. Please let me know if you are happy with your current role and team choice, or if you wish to do something additional or different. Thank you again on behalf of all the Project Leaders for everything you do.

Thanks for the info on Mary Counsell, I think I made a mistake with her Mothers maiden name, it should be STOKES not PYM. ( source from FreeReg)
I have Mary's birth year approx 1811 but her baptism is 1822, I need to do some more checking on that.
Best wishes Mike
Thank you for updating baptism information on the Ellis family.

Thank you for your message :)
I looked for a baptism record for Mary, and the closest one I could find to Denham was Felsham which is close to Bury St Edmunds. It is possible that within the 3 years from birth to baptism she was moved to another village. They are only approx 8.5 miles apart :) If further research finds it is incorrect, it can always be changed to Denham, Hoxne, Suffolk. :)
The Denham category is set for deletion, because as there are 2 in Suffolk, we need to distinguish which is which :)
Thank you for contributing to our global tree :)
