Ada Sophia Picton was born on 27 December 1866 in the Maitland district of New South Wales.

She was the daughter of John Picton and Mary Ann Greer.

Ada Sophia Picton married Edward William Mitchell 15 December 1886.

They have four children.

1. Lloyd Valentine Mitchell born 12 February 1887. He married Agnes Potts 12 February 1914 in Taree. They have six children.

2. Clarence Roland Mitchell born 30 June 1888 at Forster New South Wales. He passed away 12 May 1957 in Sydney. He served in World War 11 in the 35th Infantry Battalion.

3. Kate Myee Mitchell born 31 October 1889 in Dungog.

4. Alma May Mitchell born 13 December 1892.

Ada Sophia Mitchell passed away 4 February 1951in the Taree area.
