Research Notes

UH OH! I think that there may be something really amiss in here! There looks to be two George Pidds. BOTH are George C Pidd "C" as in Chapman.

George snr is the 63 year old inkeeper in 1881.

It looks like he bought and married William Liggots wife Elizabeth (!) in 1877 is this her? [1] . Update - 19/03/23 - A George Chapman Pidd married Elizabeth Leggott in Thorne RD in 3rd Quarter 1877 (from FreeBMD). Another George Chapman Pidd married Frances Ellen Grenter in Thorne RD 2nd Quarter 1880 (from FreeBMD).

That would possilby mean that Emma thomasine died before 1877. Update - 19/03/23 -Emma Thomasine died 21 Jan 1874. -From copy of death certificate

George Chapman Pidd jnr looks to have been born 1833?? his father is too young then????

To confuse the issue even more BOTH George Pidd AND George Chapman Pidd held the licence on George & Dragon Inn. George 1872-1881. George C Pidd 1885 - 1892.

Also there is in the 1841 census in Fleet, part Holland, Lincolnshire: Agricultural labourer George Pidd age 25 with wife Sussanah (20), Levinia (3), and George (10m). Is this the same George??? Did his wife Sussanah and child Levinia also die?? And then he moved to Crowle?? And later named another daughter Levinia? Update - 19/03/23 - A George Pidd marries a Susannah Smith 3rd October 1836 at Fleet, Lincolnshire (Lincolnshire Marriages And Banns P48 on Find My Past)

The 1891 census is the first mention of Epworth, somewhere my great aunt Beatty (Beatrice Pidd) used to go and visit in the early part of the 20c

I (Wood-27695) also have a notebook with very detailed farming information which must pertain to this side of the family.
