Shelly was born in 1963. She is the biological daughter of Coley Pider and Shirley Smith. Shelly was adopted July 27, 1966 to Duane and Beverly Eitniear of Hart, Michigan. [1]
I am Shelly Cherry, the Library Media/Computer Specialist at a Public Charter School. This is my eighteenth year teaching. I have semiretired from teaching after the loss of my husband in Feb. 2018.
I was born and raised in Hart, Michigan. I graduated from Hart High School in May of 1981. I married my high school sweetheart, Tim Goughler on May 2, 1982. Tim went into the Air Force in 1983 and we were stationed in Germany at Hahn Air Base. Our first daughter Kymberly was born in January of 1985. We lived less than thirty minutes from the Mosel and Rhine Rivers. We visited every castle on both rivers, several times.
Our next assignment was in England at Royal Air Force in Welford. We arrived at Heathrow Airport on New Year's Eve in 1986. We lived near Avebury Stone Circle. We could see one of the white horses at Calne from our window. We also lived near Stonehenge Stone Circles and just twenty minutes from Wales. While stationed in England, we visited almost every castle and cathedral within an hour’s drive from our home. Our second daughter, Jennifer, was born in September of 1987. Our third daughter, Heather, made a surprise arrival on October 9, 1988. Our final assignment together was in West Germany at Bitburg Air Force Base. We arrived on New Year’s Eve of 1989. We separated a short time later.
I met my present husband Craig Cherry in December of 1990. I have been married for 23 years to Craig. He is an Energy Consultant for the State of Oklahoma. We had our first daughter in October of 1991. She arrived on Heather's 3rd birthday. We spent a year at Vandenberg Air Base in California and then moved to Phoenix, Arizona. In 1994, Craig was hired by a private company here in Oklahoma City. We moved to Oklahoma City in January of 1995. I started school in Phoenix and finished my degree at UCO in Edmond. I earned my degree in Elementary Education in May 1998. I immediately continued my education earning my Master's in Education in Instructional Media from UCO in Dec. 2002.
My first teaching assignment was second grade for Putnam City Schools. I also worked at Harn Homestead Museum as the Education Director for a year. I taught three year olds at Villa Teresa Schools for one year in 2000. I taught in Oklahoma City Public Schools from 2001 - 2007. I currently teach 6th - 8th grade students in the computer lab. I also help teachers with technology questions and problems. I try to provide resources for teachers to use with students and for parents to use with children at home.
I am a family history researcher and have been researching several family lines for about twenty years. I was adopted when I was two and a half and so my family history research includes my adopted family and my birth family.
I have also published my first family history book. This family history book is research I have done on my mother's side, the Sutherland Family. It is available on Lulu.com.

Best wishes,

You created a One Name Study called "DNA Shelly Cherry" on 29 March 2017. Was there a particular surname you were thinking of studying?
