He possibly married Fannie (DeSmith) Pierce, who died young; however, no marriage records connect them. By 1880, William boarded with widow Marcia Hunn in Canandaigua, New York, working as a farm laborer.[5] He later married Eliza (Hunn) Pierce, having seven children together and taking up residence in Canandaigua.[6][7][8]
William Pierce passed away in Canandaigua, New York[9] at the age of 60 and is buried at West Avenue Cemetery there.[10]
