NOTE:

Stephen and his wife Mabel had a stillborn male child, March 28, 1908 in Worcester, Worcester, Massachusetts.[1]

BIRTH:

A record of the birth of this Stephen Edward Pierce who was born November 6, 1876 in Warren, Worcester, Massachusetts to parents, Edward F. Pierce and Amelia "Bath" (sic).[2]

PROFESSION:

See 1910 US Census source where he is given as a "stationary engineer," (could this mean he's working in a paper mill?).

See 1920 US Census source that says in 1920 he was employed as a farmer.

See 1930 US Census source that says in 1930 he was employed as a farmer.

See 1940 US Census source that says in 1940 he was a farmer-owner of farm.

MARRIAGE:

A record of the marriage of this Stephen E. Pierce to Mabel L. Bigelow in Brimfield, Hampden, Massachusetts, September 1, 1905. Of this Stephen this record also tells us he was 28yrs old in 1905 and that his parents were Edward F. Pierce and Amelia (Barth) Pierce.[3]

CENSUS':

The 1880 US Census of Warren, Worcester, Massachusetts finds this Stephen E. at the age of 3yrs old and given as born in Massachusetts, living there in Warren with his parents Edward F. Pierce and Amelia and a 1yr old sister, Edna F.[4]

The 1900 US Census of New Braintree, Worcester, Massachusetts finds this Edward E. at the age of 23yrs old and given as born in November of 1876; living there in New Braintree with his parents given as Edward F. Pierce and "Emmilia" (sic) and seven younger siblings; Edna F., Cora S., Gertrude A., Sion A., Ruth A., Winifred J, and William H.[5]

The 1910 US Census of Worcester, Worcester, Massachusetts finds this Stephen E. Pierce at the age of 33yrs old and given as a stationary engineer born in Massachusetts and married for 5yrs. He is living there in Worcester at 83 Elm St. in the household of an Edward H. Morgan; a 53 year old widower, (see 1930 US Census where this person Edward is given as a father-in-law to someone). Stephen is also living there with his 30yr old wife given as Mabelle (sic) L. and a 19yr old boarder named Charles A. Norcross.[6]

The 1920 US Census of Brimfield, Hampden, Massachusetts finds this Stephen E. Pierce at the age of 43 yrs old and given as a farmer, born in Massachusetts, living there in Brimfield with his 40yr old wife Mabel L. and a 65yr old person given as his father-in-law, Edward H. Morgan.[7]

The 1930 US Census of Brimfield, Hampden, Massachusetts finds this Stephen E. Pierce at the age of 53yrs old, and given as a farmer born in Massachusetts. He is living there in Brimfield in a home that he owns on what looks like Little Rest. (sic) with his 50yr old wife, Mabel L. Also living in the household is a 75yr old farm-hand, given as his father-in-law, named, Edward H. Morgan and an 85yr old boarder named Elphine S. Jennison.[8]

The 1940 US Census of Brimfield, Hampden, Massachusetts finds this Stephen E. Pierce at the age of 63yrs old and given as a farmer-owner of farm, born in Massachusetts. He is living there in Brimfield with his 60yr old wife, Mabel L. and a 70yr old boarder named Joseph Pelletier.[9]

MILITARY-TYPE RECORDS:

A record of the World War 1 Draft Registration for this Stephen Edward, Pierce says he registered in Ware, Massachusetts, September 12, 1918. Of this Stephen this record also tells us he was 41yrs old at the time; that he was born November 6, 1876; that at the time he was a self employed farmer, living in Brimfield, Hamden, Massachusetts; that his nearest kin was his wife, Mabel Pierce and that he was tall, of medium build and had blue eyes and brown hair.[10]

DEATH:

This Stephen Pierce died June 27, 1962 in North Brookfield, Worcester, Massachusetts. See obituary source below.

OBITUARY:

BRIMFIELD- Stephen Pierce, 85, formerly of Little Rest Rd., Brimfield, died Wednesday afternoon in North Brookfield. He was born November 6, 1876 in Warren, the son of Edward F. and Amelia (Barth) Pierce. He was a retired farmer, having lived in Brimfield 60 years until he went to North Brookfield five years ago. He was a member of Thomas Lodge AF & AM and a former member of the Brimfield Grange. He leaves three sisters; Mrs. Lottie A. Anderson of Boston, Mrs. Gertrude A. Pillsbury and Mrs. Ruth Pierce, both of Whitman, and several nieces and nephews...burial will be in Brimfield Cemetery.[11]
