1865 Massachusetts State Census: Eliphalet PIerce, age 73, lived in Rochester, Plymouth County, Massachusetts, with his wife, Joanna, age 63 (record reads Phebe, but age is wrong), and sons William H., 34, and Seabury B., 32. All family members were born in Massachusetts. Eliphalet's occupation was farmer, William was a mariner, and Seabury was a nailer. 1870 U.S. Census: Eliphalet Pierce, age 78, lived in Rochester, Plymouth County, Massachusetts, with his wife, Joanna, age 69, and their son, Seabury B., 35. Eliphalet's occupation was farmer, and Seabury's was farm laborer. Eliphalet owned real estate valued at $700, and personal property of $100. All three were born in Massachusetts. [5]

1880 U.S. Census: Eliphalet Pierce, age 88, lived in Rochester, Plymouth County, Massachusetts, with his son, Seabury B., 46. Eliphalet's occupation was farmer, and Seabury's was farm laborer. Eliphalet was unemployed for 12 months prior to census, due to paralysis. Eliphalet and Seabury were both born in Massachusetts, as were their parents. [6]

He was born in Middleborough, Massachusetts, to parents Eliphalet and Tabitha Pierce[7]. He was buried in Sherman Cemetery, in Rochester, Plymouth County, Massachusetts.
