Note: Shortly after his marriage William Parsons joined the Army to serve in Colonel Ellison's Regiment under Capt. Adam Winsell with a group of TN Volunteers who constructed Forts Madison and Jackson in the War of 1812. After the War of 1812, He traded a land grant he received for his services during the war and with some additional money purchased 200 acres of land in the 12th district of Overton County, in the extreme northeastern part of the county. In 1827, he moved his family to a farm adjoining his father-in-law Arthur Pierce.
William and Lucy joined the Wolf River Baptist Church on August 7, 1838.
