Lois (Pierre) Lemelle is a part of US Black heritage.

Mary was born in 1946. She was the daughter of Joseph Pierre and Yola Siner. She passed away in 2017.

SUNSET- Funeral services will be held Friday, January 6, 2017 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church for Mary Lois Lemelle, age 70, the former Mary Lois Pierre, who passed away Monday, January 2, 2017 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.

Interment will be in St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Grand Coteau.

Mrs. Lemelle was a native and lifelong resident of Sunset. She retired with Hilton of Lafayette after nineteen years and worked for private families all while building her own family. She was a very loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend and neighbor. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed. She was a parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.

Survivors include three sons, John Jeff Lemelle of Sunset, Joseph Michael Lemelle of Texas and Leo Lemelle and his companion, Lisa Prince, of Sunset; three daughters, Pamela Guillory and her husband, Patrick, of Lake Charles, Carolyn Nevis and her husband, Louis, of Bellevue and Angela Lemelle Roberts and her husband, Collins, Jr., of Opelousas; one brother, Ignatius Pierre of Sunset; one brother-in-law, Charles Brooks of Sunset; two sisters, Mary Catherine Baloney and Georgiana Bruno and her husband, Cleveland, of Carencro; two sisters-in-law, Louginia Lemelle and Marie Mayfield both of Sunset; sixteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-eight years, Michael William Lemelle; parents, Joseph Pierre & the former Yola Siner ; four brothers, Jessie Pierre, Clifton Angelle, H.J. Pierre and Joseph Pierre, Jr.; three sisters, Mary Alice Pierre, Jacqueline Randell and Cynthia Manuel;grandparents, Henry Pierre, Jr., Mary Louise Johnson Wheeler, Benn Wheeler, Onezime & Alice Siner; father-in-law, Leo Lemelle, Sr.; mother-in-law, Alice Milton Blocker.

A rosary will be prayed at 9:00 a.m. Friday in the funeral home.

The family requests visiting hours be observed from 7:00 a.m. until service time on Friday.
