Mrs. Friederike Pingel. The death occurred on Saturday last, after six years' illness, of Mrs. Fredericke Pingel, wife of Mr. H. Pingel, sen., of Tweedvale. The deceased lady, who was a highly respected old colonist, was born at Tangermunde, Magdeburg, 74 years ago. When 11 years of age, she, with her parents, sailed for Australia in the wooden ship Steiniwader. During the 17 weeks' voyage the ship encountered a heavy gale and narrowly escaped being totally wrecked. In 1866 she was married at Tweedvale, and had resided there ever since. Mrs. Hingel's invariable courtesy and unfailing kindness made her generally loved by her many friendB. She has left a widower, four daughters—Mesdames A. Weyland (Tweedvale), and T. Hankel (Adelaide), and Misses E. and A. Pingel; and three sons— Messrs. John, Rudolph, and Hermann Pingel. There are also 20 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.[1]
Sophie Freidericke Wilhelmine was born in 1843. Sophie Freidericke Wilhelmine Pietsch married Henrick Pingel in 1865 in the Lutheran Church, Lobethal. They subsequently had 7 children, all born in the Lobethal area and all of whom lived to adulthood and married.
Sophie Friedericke Wilhelmine passed away in 1918 at Lobethal, South Australia. [2]
Sophie Friedericke Wilhelmine was buried in the Lobethal General Cemetery, Lobethal. Her husband died 9 months later and was buried with her in the Lobethal General Cemetery.
