Albert served in Company F of the Maine Coast Guards Infantry during the US Civil War. He enlisted on 2 January 1865 and was honorable discharged on 7 July 1865 after the was ended. He held the rank of private for the duration of his military service.[2][3]
The youngest son, Arthur, contracted pneumonia when he was nine years old. He died in January 1902[7]
Albert and Hattie were divorced by the time the 1910 US Census was completed. Albert lived alone and collected his veteran's pension payments until his death in 1927.[8][9][10]
