I am putting this down first because it's the most important thing that I have been doing for 24 yrs. Looking for help on a John Pike & Mary Courtney who Marry in 1832 in Pendleton Co Ky.
I didn't start my trip to find out if I was related to royalty but as a favor to my aunt and found out that I like the hunt.
I started The Pike One Name Study in November of 2015. Please go to this page if your interested in the surname of Pike, Pyke and Pikes. If you would like to add sources, stories or Pike memories please add to this Free Page. The initial goal is to cover anyone born with the Pike Surname in North America and The British Isles.https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Pike_Name_Study
I was born to Preston Marion Pike & Ilene Healy Pike on 27 Aug 1950 in Cincinnati General Hospital. I am the 3rd of 8 children. We lived at 60 E McMillian. The building was torn down around 1970. Both parents are gone now. Mom was around but didn't have much in the way of conversation about her last 7 years. She was becoming senile and they say that's what killed her. She forgets to eat & refuses food?
I got my first job when I was 11. Graduated in the top 25% of the class without trying in the 12th. I enlisted in the Corps in April 1968 then graduated from Cincinnati P. S. in June of 1968 and went into the Marine Corps later that month. :I was trained as a Ground Radio Repairman (2847) (2841) . Honorably discharged on June 26, 1972 as Sargent. Worked in Shoe Manf. machinery, Home Alarm Systems as a Bench tech, to Main Frame computer systems, to Networking (Network Engineer) to which I am now retired.
My wife passed away in Oct 2011. I have one daughter & 2 step children along with my grandson.
I am looking on my paternal side mostly. This big block has been in front of me for over 20 years as follows. A John Pike & Mary Courtney of Pendleton Co. Ky appear & get married. I feel that he and his children are hiding him during the census'. He was listed as being from many places. The Mary Courtney father has eluded me also. My Pike family merges into Kentucky from Va. N.C. & Pa. My John Pike is a Protestant so I can rule out Catholic but probably not a Quaker. My Pike line has Porter , Moore from Higginsport Oh. Perry from Pendleton Co Ky. & of Course Courtney from possibly Pa. or Va. John could be from Ireland where the family tradition has him married with a family that he skipped out on.
My Healy line is from the Boston area from around 1650 with William. They were handed to me on a silver platter by a previous genealogist. My objective is to dump all my research, obits, bible & other proofs before I go offline. My children aren't interested in Genealogy.
:Well I got my son to join & he is now most trusted on all my accounts.
My only famous relation, that I found so far is I'm 13th cousin to Harry S. (Shipp , Shippy) Truman. He swore he only had a middle initial. Many of his relations have the name Ship or Shippy. He is through my Dye line where his family moved from Ky. to Mo.
I just looked at Find A Grave & found out that they are now owned by Ancestry.Com. They don't buy companies without planning to make a profit. I hope WikiTree doesn't go down the same path.:^(
I remember the 1960 census where the takers were still going from house to house. Mom spent about 20 minutes talking to him at the front door. Pike-2301 14:00, 1 May 2016 (EDT)
Queen Elizabeth II Windsor-1 and Eddie Pike-2301 are 13th cousins once removed through my paternal line English born Howard-5 and 10th cousins twice removed through my paternal line of Irish born Colley-154.
Early 19th Century Veatch in White County Illinois area.
Eddie Pike's DNA has been tested for genealogical purposes. It may be possible to confirm family relationships by comparing test results with Eddie or other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share DNA with Eddie:
It is corrected, on the marriage edit page there is a check box that says....
Check this to prevent William and Nancy from being linked as husband/wife on each other's profiles. They will still be connected as spouses elsewhere. This option is offered for living people who are divorced. It's not for unmarried parents or non-traditional families.
For some reason the box was checked so the husband and wife did not show on each other's profiles....
yeah, he appears to have been born out of wedlock/illegitimate and I don't have a biological father for him.
Almost all of my information is imported via an Ancestry GEDCOM and when I did the initial upload I think I had a couple of stepparent connections where the biological parent was unknown accidentally get put in as a parent. I caught this one and another initially, and had them marked as "non-biological" because I misunderstood that marking's purpose.
I've removed Christopher Columbus Collins as the father of Thomas Whitt Spears, now. thanks for bringing it to my attention.
Eddie; I have a dna match on Joseph Pike, b 1818 and died 1888, don't know the connection yet. But if you are keeping track, I thought I'd let you know. I just found it and haven't researched it yet. Just letting you know in-case you're keeping track of various Pike lines. Marg
