Dora Pike was born on 7 June 1907[1] at Gladstone, Wairarapa, New Zealand, and her birth was registered in the third quarter of 1907 at Carterton[2]. She was the last daughter and eighth child of Isaac Pike and Amy Ansley Buckeridge[3].
She married Arthur William Pike on 22 April 1925[4][5] at her mother's house at Hurunuiorangi Flat, Gisborne[6]. She was given away by her oldest brother, Herbert, and her sister Alice was her bridesmaid. Her brother George was the best man. They had five children.
Her husband Arthur died on 20 September 1944 from injuries suffered in a motor-car accident the previous day[7]. She claimed for "£5000 general damages and £30 4s 3d funeral expenses" in the Supreme Court against his employer, Evan Critchley Brenkley, Contractor of Masterton. It was alleged that "the defendant so negligently drove his car, in which [Arthur] was a passenger, that it left the roadway and collided with a bridge". The jury at the Supreme Court awarded her £3200 general damages and the funeral expenses requested[8]. She was given £1500 of the general damages, the rest to be paid "to the Public Trustee, for him to furnish a report on the respective merits of the five children".
Dora died on 17 October 1993[9] at Masterton. She was buried at Archer Street Cemetery (Plan II, Row 27), Masterton, Masterton District, Wellington, New Zealand, with her husband Arthur[10]. Their gravestone reads:

Research Notes
Her date of birth is given correctly in her birth registration in two sources, but her death registration has an incorrect year of birth, and her grave gives an incorrect age. She was 86 when she died. (Dickson-4413 00:56, 2 September 2023 (UTC))
