Biography

This profile is part of the Pike Name Study.

Andrew Jackson Pike was the son of John W. Pike and his wife Elizabeth Davis. According to the movements of his family, he was born in Alabama, likely either Tallapoosa or Talladega County.[1][2]

After the Civil War, Andrew and his family are found in Sunflower County Mississippi.[3] His brothers served in the Confederate Army with a unit from Talladega County,[4] so the family likely spent the war years in Alabama.

Andrew was married in 1878 in Tipton Co, TN to Mattie Fisher, the widow of James Fisher.[5][6]

In 1879 his son Malcolm Pike was born in Brighton, Tipton Co. TN, which is north of Memphis and had been founded only a few years prior with the coming of the railroad.

Andrew's parents and other family members relocated to Tipton County Tennessee by the time of the 1880 census[7] while he and his family are living in nearby Shelby County, TN.[8]

According to the family a daughter Clara (possibly Cleo) was also born to the couple.[9]

Mattie Pike married again on 30 Mar 1884[10] so it is currently presumed he died before that time.

Thanks Connie, for the clarification on the 2 Andrew Jackson Pikes. I do descend from Daniel Pike who died at a young age. It is very hard to find sources for him.

There are two Andrew Jackson Pikes who are cousins. Andrew Jackson Pike born 1837 in Georgia is a cousin of this one. That Andrew Jackson Pike was the son of Daniel Pike, son of John William Pike and Jane (Cotney) Pike.
