James Pike was born about 1849. He is the son of John Pike and Susan Morris. He was born in Hancock County, Illinois, United States. He was one of nine children born to William and Susan Morris. He moved to Texas with his parents and siblings. On December 15, 1870 he married Laura Mary Taylor who was born in Arkansas, They were married in Texas, United States. Census stated James worked on farms. They had the following children: Annie Pike 1874, Charlotte Pike 1877, George Pike 1878, and Sallie Pike in 1879. All of the children were born in Texas.

Do you have a marriage record for James and a Laura Taylor? Most people have Anna Laura Daugherty as his wife and she is listed as the mother in Charlotte's death record. Also, They had more than the children that appear in the 1880 census.
