In 1723, Vincent married Rebecca Harwar,[4] widow of Thomas Hines, and daughter of Sameul Harwar and Anne Killman (daughter of John and Margery Killman).[1] I believe this marriage date was incorrectly transcribed, and that Vincent and Rebecca were married much earlier than this (see Research Notes).

There is spectulation that Rebecca wasn't the mother of Vincent's children. The marriage records index gives Vincent and Rebecca's marriage as 1723, but his children seem to have been born prior to this. On 17 May 1738, Samuel Piles sold to Ludovicus, for five pounds, a fifty-acre tract of land "lying and being in the sd County of Essex on the South side of Rappa River near the ferry on Pistattaway Creek being part of a tract of land formerly belonging to Harry Barronsway & now in the possession of [illegible] Piles . . to Ludos Vicus Moarius Piles and Anna his present wife. . ."[12] Both Samuel and Ludo would have been at least 21 years old at the time of this indenture, putting their births by 1717. This is probably were the spectulation stems from, BUT, Rebecca's brother, Henry Harway's indenture of 18 Jun 1723 refers to both Samuel and Ludovicus as sons of Vincent "and Rebecca."
Piles/Cauthorn Connections:
John and Ludovicus Piles were witnesses to Richard (IV) Cauthorn's will. Richard's children were James, Vincent Godfrey and Henry Cauthorn. (This relationship and the naming of Richard's son "Vincent Godfrey" initially led me to think there was some merit to the claim of a prior marriage, and that Vincent was possibly married to a sister of Richard Cauthorn).
On 13 Jan 1746, Catherine Webb sold 40 acres of land to Henry Cauthorn, witnesses were Samuel, Ludo and John Piles. Bondsmen of the administration of Ludo's estate were James and Vincent Cauthorn.
In John Pile's will (1 Dec 1757) he names Mary Magdalena and Willhelmina as the wives of James and Vincent Cauthorn; and leaves possessions to Vincent and Wilhelmina's son Richard Cauthorn, and to James and Mary's son John Cauthorn. Vincent Cauthorn was one of his executors.
He passed away in 1737.
