Elizabeth (Jayne[1]) Pinchon[2] [3] alias Pincheon[4]
Elizabeth was the daughter of (Edwarde otherwise[1]) William Pinchon, Esq. of Writtle in Essex,[2] and his wife, Rose, the daughter of Thomas Reding of Pinner, Middlesex,[3] and the sister of Sir Edward Pincheon.[4]
Elizabeth married about 1597,[3] Richard Weston,[4] baptised at Chicheley, Buckinghamshire, on 1 March 1577,[3] of Roxwell Park, Essex, and Nayland, Suffolk, the son of Jerome Weston of Skreens[3] in Roxwell, Essex, and his first wife, Mary, [1] the daughter of Anthony Cave of Chicheley, Bucks. Richard was described by a contemporary as a ‘man of big looks and of a mean and abject spirit’.[2]
Children of Elizabeth Pinchon and Richard Weston, afterwards Earl of Portland:
(Elizabeth Pinchon who was married to Geoffrey Gatte of St. Edmonds, Suffolke, in The Visitation of Essex in 1612 was not, as previously noted on this profile, the daughter but the sister of William Pinchon of Writtell, Essex, who married Rose Reddinge, and the aunt of Jayne Pinchon who married Richard Weston.[1])
Elizabeth Weston died soon after giving birth to her third child, Mary, and was buried at Roxwell on 15 February 1602/3.[4] After Elizabeth's death, her husband married Frances, the daughter of Nicholas Walgrave of Boreley in Essex[2] alias Waldegrave, esq.[4] and was knighted on 23 July 1603,[3] created Baron Weston in 1628 and Earl of Portland in 1633.[2]
