DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with William by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with William:
In 1921 Census William believed he was born in Cullompton, Devon, his father's home area but his birth certificate shows he was born "on the road" in a railway navvy camp in East Markham, Nottinghamshire where his father was working as a railway labourer.
Great grandfather's 1881 marriage was recorded and signed as Pyne but in 1881 & 1891 Census he reverted to Pine, then in 1901 and 1911 Census he used Pyne. First child's birth registration to use alternative spelling was Sarah Pyne in 1887. Date of death is now certain as I have obtained the death certificate which although it uses a previously unknown middle name of Stephen it s the same address as the family home, 25 West View, for previous years in Electoral Roll.
