Dorothy was born on 1 June 1896,^[1] and her birth registered^[2] at Petersfield, Hampshire, England. She was baptised on19 July 1896 at Colemore, now an almost abandoned village, the daughter of Thomas Pink and Theresa Giles.^[3][4][5]
