Biography

John was born between 1852 AND 1853, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, no birth or baptism has been found.


John died at the young of 44 of heart disease on 25th April 1898 at Surry Hills, NSW. His brother Joseph was the informant and states that John's father was James Pinkerton. He was buried in the Presbyterian Cemetery, Rookwood on 26th April 1898.

Research Note

  • I hold doubts whether John is actually the son of James Pinkerton, these doubts are based on the fact that James did not mention John in Divorce record, only comparing our DNA to other descendants of James will prove or disprove this theory.
  • The addition of Van to his name came some time after birth, not sure of the reason.
