DIVORCE PROCEEDINGS. The case Pinkham v. Pinkham was called on. Mr Conolly appeared for petitioner. Respondent did not appear. Clara Pinkham, living at Picton, said she was married to Ed. Drummond Pinkham on the 26th November, 1887. After marriage they lived together for five or six years. They had four children, the eldest being 12 years, the others 10 years, 9 years, and 5 years. Her husband, who was a sailor, worked for some time at a mill at Tuamarina. He left her at Picton in February, 1895. A few weeks afterwards he wrote from Wellington saying that, he was trying to get work on board a vessel, and since April, 1895, she had not heard of him. She caused enquiries to be made by the Picton Hospital Board, but they had no result. She had been maintaining herself with the aid of her mother. [2]
After he abandoned his family in NZ he returned to the USA. There he married his cousin and had further family. He passed away in 1944. [3]
Note: His date of birth is an estimate only, based on the age of his 1st wife
