Little was known about Charles. (Uncle) Earl Pinkham thought that he "headed west" around 1870 "with other pioneering souls", or maybe he headed 'home' to the Eastern Townships, Quebec from whence his parents came. This is a good example of a family not really knowing what happened and making up a suitable story ... with all the best intentions.
Charles was born in Clarke Township, Ontario in 1855 to Comfort Carpenter Pinkham and Elizabeth Phelps.
In the 1861 Census, Charles is 6 years old living with his widowed mother in Clarke Twp.[1]
He married Lavina Corey in Lowell, Massachusetts on July 27, 1881 their marriage record listing Charles as a horse railroad conductor.[2][3]
In Lowell, Mass he eventually he became a real estate agent, and obtained his US naturalization papers November 21, 1893.[4]
In the 1900 Census, Charles and Lavina are still living in Lowell.[5]
In 1910, Charles and Lavina are still living in Lowell, and Charles is listed as a real estate agent again.[6]
C.W. Pinkham is referenced on Lavina's headstone.[7]
