Biography
Jennifer Juel was born on 21 November 1941 at Nelson, the daughter of Alfred Lancelot Whitehead Piper and Elsie Gadd.
Jenny, as she was known as, was much loved by her family. Her mother called Jenny her angel.
She died on 29 April 1946 at Nelson aged 4 years. Jenny had had mumps, then diphtheria and meningitis. She also had a weak heart. The combination resulted in her death.
Jennifer was buried at Wakapuaka Cemetery [Block 18, Plot 73A]. Her headstone reads - In loving memory of our darling daughter Jennifer Juel Piper died April 29 1946 aged 4 ½ years.
She had a rag doll named Rosy that was put in the coffin with her.
