Biography

Simon S Pitcher son of William W Pitcher[1] and Mary A Secor was born on January 30, 1842[2] in New York.

He married Lucy J Dyer (846-1890) in ca 1866. They had 3 children.

  1. Arthur Pitcher (1868-1955)
  2. Mary Eva Pitcher (1871-)
  3. Jessie Pitcher (1875-)

They lived in Berne, Albany, New York in 1870, where he was a Farmer, and Lucy was taking care of the home and children, Arthur-2 and Mary E-1.[3]

They moved to Iowa, where in 1880 they were in Lincoln, Grundy, Iowa. SImon (age 38) worked as a Farm Laborer, and Lucy was taking care of the home and children, Arthur-12, Mazetta-11 and Jessie-7 who were all in school.[4]

His wife Lucy Jane passed away on October 4, 1890, in Grundy, Iowa, at the age of 43,

In 1895, He and the children, Arthur-26, Eva-24 and Jessie-21 were in Grundy.[5]

At age 58 and widowed, he was living as a Boarder in 1900.[6]

He died at age 64, on December 18, 1906 in Iowa,[1] and was buried in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center, Grundy, Iowa.[2]
