Austin was born in 1912 in Louisiana to Moise Pitre and Ola Lafleur. In 1920, they were all living in Evangeline Parish, Louisiana. There were three children in the home - Austin, Euline, and Hurshel
He appears again with Moise and Ola (Alla) Pitrie in the 1930 census with his siblings: Evline Pitre, Hurshel Pitre, Francois Pitre, George Pitre, Rose Pitre.
In the 1940 census, he appears again with Moise and Ola in the same house as in 1930. Listed siblings are: Hershel Petre, Frank Petre, George Petre, Rosemary Petre, Wilfred Petre, Mae Monia Petre, Anne Patsy Petre
There is an Auston Pitri listed in the SSDI, born December 23, 1912; died September 13, 2007. Last residence was Calcasieu, Louisiana. This could possibly the same Auston.
Lending even more credence to the theory is an obituary posted on FindaGrave for the same Auston Pitre that lists a sister Patsy as a survivor. He is buried in Ville Platte.
If this is the same Auston Pitre, his wife was Florella West, who died before he did.
