Jean Pitre is on the Wall of Names at the Acadian Memorial in St. Martinville, Louisiana Plaque 11 Right, La Ville D'Archangel arrivee le 3 Decembre 1785. Also on the plaque with him is Felicite Daigle, his wife; and six Pitre children: Charlotte Marie, Pierre, Jacques, Francoise, Felicite & Marguerite. [1]

Biography

Charlotte Marie Pitre, daughter of Jean-Baptiste Pitre and Felicite Daigre, was born in Mordreux, France 17 March 1763 and christened in Pleudihen the same day. [2]She died in Louisiana before 24 Aug 1788. [3]
Charlotte and Nicolas Courtois married 11 Dec 1785 in New Orleans, Orleans [4] about a week after debarking from the Spanish ship "La Ville d'Archangel" in New Orleans. Nicolas was also on "La Ville d'Archangel". [5]
Charlotte died between 2 Jul 1788 and 24 Aug 1788, the dates her daughter Marie Courtois was born and baptized. On the child's birth record, Charlotte is said to be deceased. (PCP-7, 18). [6]

    Nicolas COURTUA who is listed on the debarkation list of "La Ville d'Archangel dated 3 Dec 1785 as "Names with no reference on the embarkation list." He received 1 each of axe, hatchet, hoe, knife, large knife, and 2 shovels upon arrival.
