Joseph Pitre (baptised Joseph Pit), son of Jean-Baptiste Pitre and Felicite Daigre, was born 21 Aug 1764 in Mordreuc (also spelled Mordreux), Bretagne (today Côtes-d'Armor), France, and baptized the same day at nearby Pleudihen (today Pleudihen-sur-Rance, Côtes-d'Armor). His godparents were Claude Pitre and Anne Daigle. [1]
Joseph Pitre married Anne Portier, daugher of Jean Portier and Francoise Quemar, on 24 January 1786 at Pleudihen, Bretagne (today Pleudihen-sur-Rance, Côtes-d'Armor). Josephe resided with his parents in Pleudihen from 1764 to 1772.[2]
