Biography

Pierre Pitre was born about 1769 in Rustico.[citation needed]

He is found with his wife Martine Gallant in April, 1798. They are listed as Peter Peter and Martine Gallant.[1][2]

Pierre and Martine are also found together in the Marriage Register of Acadia, for the marriage of their son - Fidele Pitre to Sophie Doiron 15 January 1815 [3] Originally within the Register a line was drawn across the "wifes'" name space next to Pierre Pitre, as if there was no wife listed. Her name appears above this area, as if placed in at a different date, and possibly at a different time period by someone else. The handwriting, and even the impression of the writing is much different from the original entries.
