Biography

Marie Josephe Pitre was born on 16 February 1772 in Poste-de-Pointe-Coupée, Louisiana, New Spain (now New Roads, Louisiana, USA), a daughter of François Pitre (c.1748 - 1819) and Marie Josephe Thibodeau (1754 - 1817).^[1][2]

Marie Josephe was about sixteen years old when she married Michel Philippe Fontenot, about age forty, on 25 August 1788 in Opelousas Post, Louisiana.^[3][4]

Their known children were:

2. Celestine Fontenot (<1792 - 1831)

About seven years later, after Michel's death, Marie Josephe married Pierre Laurent Dupre on 24 November 1795 in Opelousas, Louisiana.^[5]
