Melazie Pitre, widow of Joachin L. Pitre, petitions the court as her husband has left a small estate in community with herself. "That said deceased left seven children issue of his legal marriage with petitioner. That six of said children are minor to wit Leonie, Emma, Apolina, Lasthenie, Francois, and Octave Pitre." She is appointed natural tutrix and Francois L. Pitre is appointed under tutor. The inventory which was taken on 27 April 1866 lists property inherited by Madame Joachin Louis Pitre from her father Joseph Pierre Pitre and other items totalling $1243.50.
