Edgar Pitre, fourth son of Pierre Damon Pitre and Laura Chovet of Belgium, was born near Opelousas, Louisiana on 28 January 1899.[1]
He was living there with his parents in 1900.[2]
During WWI in 1918 he registered for the draft in St. Landry Parish. He was single and employed in farming by P. T. Blacksher. Edgar was described as being of medium height and slender build, with gray eyes and brown hair.[1]
His mother appears to have remarried before the 1920 census. Edgar was listed as a "son-in-law," a term still commonly used in the early 20th century for a relationship by marriage, and in this case meaning step-son by today's usage.[3]
In 1930 they were living in St. Landry Parish with their first two children,[5]
and they continued to live there at least through 1940.[4]
Edgar Pitre died in 1978[6]
and is buried at Sacred Heart Prairie Ronde Cemetery in Prairie Ronde, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.[7]
