Biography

Marguerite Genevieve Pitre was born about 1723 in Acadie, daughter of Jean Baptiste Pitre and Marguerite Theriot. [1]

Marguerite (21) married Joseph Blanchard (24) (born in Acadie; son of Joseph Blanchard and Anne Dupuis) around 1746 in Acadie. [2]

Their known children:

  1. Francois Xavier BLANCHARD ca 1747-1771/
  2. Guillaume BLANCHARD ca 1749-
  3. Michel BLANCHARD ca 1751-
  4. Joseph Mathurin BLANCHARD ca 1753-
  5. Marguerite Modeste BLANCHARD ca 1756-

In 1758, Joseph and Marguerite-Geneviève were deported from Ile Saint-Jean to France. [3]

They disembarked at Saint-Malo on 23 January 1759 with their last surviving child, François-Xavier, their four other children having died during the crossing. Joseph followed his children to the grave three weeks after their arrival, on 16 February 1759.

Marguerite (53) married François Landry (60) (born in Annapolis Royal, Acadie, Colony of Nova Scotia; son of Charles Landry and Catherine Josèphe Broussard) on February 11, 1777 in Chantenay, Bretagne, France. [4]

Marguerite died about 1785 in France, aged 61.

Pitre-2557 and Pitre-62 appear to represent the same person because: Pitre-2557 is a conflation of Pitre-62 (same parents) and Pitre-230 (same birth year and parents have similar names but are not the same). Eight children have been found for these parents and only one Marguerite has been documented. Please merge.
