Thirza Caroline Whitney age 18 years of Lachine, spinster and William Ira Pitts of Cornwall, Upper Canada (now Ontario), Blacksmith, were by license from the Governor in Chief joined in the holy bands of marriage on the fourteenth of October 1837 by John Taylor Muir (minister). Witnesses were John Anderson, Daniel Whipple and James A Glassford (probably her cousin ?)
