Andy was born in 1860, the 2nd of 12 children to Hardy Pitts and Elizabeth Jane Bowman. His siblings were: Ashley Jordan, Nancy Emaline, Hezekiah Harrison, Leonnus Bowman, Dovie Alsa, James Jackson, John, Thomas Jefferson, John H, Charles Anderson, Mary Elizabeth, and Anna; 5 half-siblings were William M, Hardy W, Riley Bartley Sr, Benjamin Franklin, and Jane B; his 2 adopted step-siblings were: Sarah Catherine Simmons and John Jackson Simmons; and 3 step-siblings: Sarah Jane Davis, Nancy Susan Davis, and Nathaniel S Davis.

Research Notes

Middle Name: The grandddaughter of Andy Pitts posted on Ancestry.com that his middle name was "Horton" not "Hardy". There are no sources to document either one.

Death Year: The grave marker is inscribed with the year 1945, but the obituary in the newspaper is dated 1944. The Georgia Death Index record states 1944.
