I have seen no sources giving her birth place as Sumner Co., TN. Sumner Co., TN is assumed because her parents married there and are also found there on the 1830 Census. I can't find them on the 1820 census but in the 1810 census they are in KY. Her place of birth is proven as TN on her 1850 census record.
Martha Mashburn (1850 census & engraved name on headstone)
Martha E "Patsy" Pitts - I have seen no proof for this nickname or middle intial in any records but Pitts Family History Vol. 1 page 201 has her name listed as Martha E "Patsy" Pitts born 1825 TN.
Marriage between Martha Pitts and Emanuel Mashburn 13 NOV 1842 Polk Co., MO
1850 District 37, Hickory, Missouri
Martha Mashburn aged 25 (abt 1825) TN
Manuel Mashburn age 40 b: KY is found in the 1860 Hickory Co., MO in the same household with a Mary E Mashburn age 27 in IL (assumed to be a new wife). Martha must have died prior to the 1860 census.
I have seen no proof for the 10 Feb 1857 Hickory Co., MO death date and place. Her headstone has engraved "Martha Mashburn born Dec 5, 1817 died Unknown". Her husband Manuel Mashburn has engraved on his stone 10 Feb 1857.
Her death place could either be in Hickory Co., MO or the county of burial in St. Clair Co., MO.
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Martha by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share DNA with Martha:
