OSCAR JOSEPH PLADEK JR., 61, of Eagle, Pa., formerly of Leonia, died Wednesday. A chemist and market-research analyst, he was president of Eagle (Pa.) Quality Products Co. He was a graduate of St. Peter's College, Jersey City, and of Harvard Business School, and he had served in the Army. A professional magician, he was a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians. Surviving are his wife, Joan Mayer Pladek; a son, Robert of Jobstown; a daughter, Barbara of Eagle; a sister, Eleanor Bradley of Louisa, Va., and three grandchildren. Arrangements are by Donohue Funeral Home, Downingtown, Pa. Donations to the American Heart Association, 121 S. Broad St., Philadelphia, Pa. 19107, or to Greenpeace, P.O. Box 3720, Washington, D.C. 28007, would be appreciated.

They adopted Barbara Joan Pladek, born 21 Jun 1960.

"Oscar invented the double-ball steal, which was stolen and published by Marlo. Pladek's original handling was eventually published by Karl Fulves in Pallbearers (I believe). Vernon did not use the Pladek move."
